Midsouthern Restorations

1966 Buick Electra 225

“Big Cruising Convertible”, that is what this 1966 Buick Electra 225 is. Our customer from Loudon Tennessee brought this in to have a frame off restoration. His mother owned this car when new and it has been pampered most of it existence. The interior appears to be nearly new. The body is straight but the elements have rusted some parts on it. Being up from up north where the roads are salted took its toll on the frame and body mounts. The frame is getting sand blasted and all suspension will be rebuilt. The rust on the bottom of car is being repaired and before outer body is started will be rejoined to the chassis. Prior to this restoration the motor was rebuilt has well has transmission. This is a classic restoration on a classic car.

More rust than expected was found on the body but over all was a solid car. The rust was cut out and new metal was welded in place. The frame was sand blasted, primed and painted and all new suspension was installed. The transmission was cleaned and painted and an aluminum deep pan was added to stop the pan leakage. The motor and trans were installed in the frame and the body was dropped back down with new body mounts. Once everything was reunited the body was finished and the car was painted the factory colors. Once the paint was buffed the car was reassembled to its running state. The car will now receive its new Convertible top and some slight interior work to be better than new. The big cruiser runs out well and the A/C is cold.

The Buick is now home waiting for miles to be put on her and start her next 47 years of existence.
