1937 Hudson Truck #2
From the parts searching that happened for the 37 Hudson Utility Coupe, two 1937 Hudson pick up trucks were found in Seattle Washington. Our customer from MT Juliet Tennessee purchased both has these identical trucks were part of her family when she was a little girl. She has the means to re-live these days gone by. It has been said we should change our name to MidSouthern Hudson Restoration. One of these trucks will be a complete restoration and the other will be built has a daily driver with a more modern drive train but still retaining the old truck originality. The first shown here will be the restored 1937 Hudson. These trucks were rough but are so rare you take what is offered. The one here is called truck # 2. Since the trucks were built on a sedan car platform another 37 sedan that was all intact was purchased for a better chassis and original motor. The body was removed leaving the front section in tact and cutting the truck in the same place and attaching it to the car platform. Just like the factory probably did. Rust was found through out but our metal guys are pro's and building new panels and floors. The motors were sent to Indiana for a rebuild along with the transmissions. This is a difficult restoration but with the identical 37 Coupe chassis complete we can renew this pick up.
A slightly different approach has come about for we found it is very difficult to come up with NOS suspension parts and drive train parts. It was decided to go with a more modern suspension and rear drive. The front is now Mustang II with non power rack and pinion and a 2003 Ford ranger rear end because the dimensions and bolt spacing are nearly exact to the old Hudson unit. A stock 302 was pulled from out inventory and mated to a C-4 transmission and installed and painted to look old. The air cleaner is from a 50 Ford car and the oil bath part was reworked to accept a dry element. The box for the truck has been completely rebuilt with new metal. The cab sits on chassis waiting for next move. The color of Robins Egg Blue was hand picked by the owner from a broke egg in her yard. The egg was scanned for color comparison and this is it.
