1967 Chevy Camaro
Between 2006 and 2008, we have restored four first-generation Camaro Coupes. This particular one is a 1967 small block, four-speed car. This customer is from Whitehouse, Tennessee which is just north of Nashville, Tennessee. The auto was purchased 10 years before in Texas, disassembled, and put in storage. The overall condition of the body was good, and rust was minimal. While decoding serial numbers, it was learned that this car was a true four-speed car, and the owner already had a 355 HP 350 CID crate motor purchased. We contacted our Muncie Transmission Pro, and he set us up with a correct rebuilt four-speed. The automatic was used in another project. The sheet metal replacement on this car was from shoddy body repair work in the past, and the customer wanted to upgrade to cowl hood and rear spoiler. The floors and trunk area were in great shape. The suspension, rear drive, and brakes were rebuilt and power disc brakes added to the front. The body work was next, and once the body had been straightened and back in primer, the mechanics of car were installed. The owner ordered up A/C for his now new Camaro. Before paint was applied, the crate engine was running and sounding great. The original exhaust system was retained, as it was in nice shape, and the old headers were Jet Hot coated. Once the owner picked his colors, the body was shot and the stripes added. The TA’s and Crager SS’s were installed. The complete interior was new and done in black. The Hurst Competition Plus shifter looked right at home between the bucket seats. The restoration was completed in 10 months time, and one week after completion, the car placed second in a large and always competitive Camaro class car show. This car runs as well as it looks.
